Life as a lecturer.

Sometimes, I wonder why on earth would I want a job in the university? Certainly not attractive and not an easy life. Academicians have to commit their lives to educate the next generation of academics and professionals.

Teaching isn’t about simply talking at the front of the lecture rooms, but we spend hours preparing for lectures, planning of syllabus, designing practical classes, settling examination papers and marking them, submitting students’ results within the time frame. We have so many deadlines and we are always chasing after time.

But you see, it is interesting. It is as rewarding as being a physiotherapist because you are making a difference in lives. The students came in without knowing anything about physiotherapy and now, they are graduating as physiotherapists. So often that you find the students you’re trying to inspire are the ones that end up inspiring you. Is this a career you would like?

To the world, you may be just a teacher but to your students, you are a Hero.
